What a corker of a night that was. Thank you Tim, Erik, Nik and all the guests.

Thanks to Boulouh and Olaf for raiding all the local stashes and vending machines for beer to keep up with the demand. The drinking capacity at the Städel is finally getting back to it’s older capacity. See you all again on the 14th November for the 20 year replay.

Inner city, deserted, die hard Consume regulars, someone said that Mr and Mrs Pitt are coming to town. They finally arrived at 2.am.

On the bar the Bremski worked perfectly, the motor had to be super-tensioned with a luggage strap at + 3m. This resulted in more power and regular customers moted that the speed had increased from 15mm a minute to nearly 25mm a minute. The bar was also able to effortlessly negotiate the 1 in 300 slope and even managed a 7mm step between two paving slabs. The extra power caused some strain on the system ande we lost the drive chain at +72m, but a quick and dirty repair by Daniel solved that. Due to the extra power, the board was double strapped down with the “GT stripes” which also made it look faster.

The sound system was again a pod into a little Marshall half stack with mostly Son House and Bukka White passing comment.

Another empty inner city square and some passers by even stopped by.  Most walked on by. Those that stopped to play with the Kacheltisch installation became so hooked I thought they would never go home.

The Flaneur was a great experimental congress from Claudia Plöchinger which brought together Klaus Walter, Armin Chodinsky, LIGNA, Knarf-Rellöm aand Trinity. More of this please!

The bar is located where an altar used to be in the castle chapel, what will now be the classroom for the Liebscher class.

The Consume bar with Kohl-O-Motion power at Playing The City

Up on the table high above street level the Consume bar went into action in the exhibition Playing the City in Frankfurt.

At a push of the button the Kohl-O-Motion system, developed by Daniel Kohl in cooperation with the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, proppeled the bar at 0.04km/h around the rooftop between the guests.

Sensors at the front and back reverse the direction of the motor allowing for gentle collisions and back-offs with guests and handrails. Just in case there is a toy alarm to signal a collision.

The closing night was rounded out by live music performances from Bernhard Schreiner & Bernie and Dave.

Frankfurt: 8th August 2008 / Rausch’s birthday and an exhibition of works from artists who studied at the Städelschule when he and his wife Helga took over the caretaker jobs / many familiar faces saying we are getting old / the bar placed in the rain between a courtyard parking lot and a back door / the usual range of alcohol but i forgot to bring any schnapps… to 5am & the next day is a write-off, as usual.
