The Consume bar with Kohl-O-Motion power at Playing The City
Up on the table high above street level the Consume bar went into action in the exhibition Playing the City in Frankfurt.
At a push of the button the Kohl-O-Motion system, developed by Daniel Kohl in cooperation with the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, proppeled the bar at 0.04km/h around the rooftop between the guests.
Sensors at the front and back reverse the direction of the motor allowing for gentle collisions and back-offs with guests and handrails. Just in case there is a toy alarm to signal a collision.
The closing night was rounded out by live music performances from Bernhard Schreiner & Bernie and Dave.

Engineer Kohl-o-Motion reporting that all systems seem to be working now. Adjusted speed: is likely to be somewhere around .04195804 Kmh (.026 mph) using the new Metabo energy cells with hotglued battery adapter. That is up from .03921568 Kmh (.024 mph) using the RC model racing car batteries from the previous two days. The mystery behind the poorly functioning bidirectional toggle switch has been solved (having a lot of leverage is not always a good thing, and be careful that optimization doesn’t lead to catastrophic failure).
The video teaser is also working after the projector was constantly overheating. Thanks to Christi from the SCHIRN and his muffin fan, that problem should be permanently solved!
Cheers,
DK

When you come … don’t forget to bring a jacket. The weather is great, but the evening gets chilly.
